The Natural Capital Committee warns the government it's not on track to meet its environmental targets. GM crops, what's their future in Britain? Growing peas sustainably.

The government’s own advisors say ministers are missing their target to leave the environment in a better state than when they came to power ten years ago. The Natural Capital Committee says spending on the environment is ‘inefficent and siloed’. The committee chairman Professor Dieter Helm outlines what he believes needs to be done.

As part of a week-long focus on genetically modified crops, we look at the role GM might play in the future.

Pea farmers in East Yorkshire are taking part in trials to improve soil quality and reduce the impact of their crops on local water courses .
