Shoe Lady is an examination of the social and domestic pressures placed on women to perform multiple and often contradictory roles in our society. Viv has lost a shoe. They鈥檙e her work shoes, her weekend shoes, her only pair of shoes, and she doesn鈥檛 know what to do. The curtains are falling, her foot is bleeding, and she鈥檚 starting to feel a little overwhelmed. But all will be well in the world once she finds that missing shoe.

Lockdown Theatre Festival was set up by Bertie Carvel as a positive, creative response to the coronavirus crisis, which has forced theatres all over the world to close, with no knowing when -- or in some cases if -- they will reopen. It captures in audio form some of the stage productions which had their performances unexpectedly cut short. Using innovative techniques, actors record 鈥渄own the line鈥� from isolation, linked with each other and with the director via video conferencing.
