Classical music to inspire hope
A journey of Hope, from the innocence we experience at the birth of the day to our dreams in the stars. The first of five musical mixes as part of Mental Health Awareness Week.
Part of Mental Health Awareness Week, the first of a series of In Tune Mixtapes inspired by our human emotions and experiences.
Today, there's a musical journey on the theme of Hope, which takes us from Thomas Arne's luminous depiction of the rising sun via one of Liszt’s meditative Consolations to Handel’s Eternal Source of Light. The tawdry hopes of the girl in William Bolcom’s ‘Amor,’ lead on to our dreams as we contemplate the stars. Elgar's Starlight and a Chinese moon song bring us to Holst’s Jupiter, the planet associated in ancient astrology with long journeys and healing.
