Memories of VE day, a virtual ceilidh and the soundtrack of an early morning dander.
Remembering the end of the second world war, a virtual, world-wide ceilidh, and listening for daws, blue-bonnets, bleck-keps and chitty-wrens on an early morning dander.
Presented by Helen Mark, we look back to the days leading up to VE Day in 1945 in the company of Sally Young, Sadie Hutchinson and Jack Wilton. Diana Culbertson talks to filmmaker Martin McLeod about his Tunes in the Hoose initiative that’s bringing traditional music to new audiences and creating a new musical community for the players. Rab Lennox loves his early morning dander for a bit of peace and quiet, but while the birdsong he hears is familiar, he doesn’t know what birds are producing it - keen birdwatcher Dick Glasgow has a few answers for him!
As the Kintra team bides at hame, they’d love to hear from listeners with a yarn to share or a suggestion for a favourite tune they’d love to hear – you can get in touch with any of the team members by email - kintra@bbc.co.uk .
