Steve Lamacq plays Talking Heads' acclaimed album Remain In Light in full.

Released in 1980, Remain In Light was the last of three albums produced for the New York band by Brian Eno. The group had gradually expanded since David Byrne, Tina Weymouth and Chris Frantz began performing together as a trio five years before. Jerry Harrison joined in 1977 and then for this album, pushed towards new sounds by Eno, they collaborated with more musicians; Bernie Worrell on keyboards, Alex Weir on guitar, Steve Scales on percussion and singers Lynn Mabry and Ednah Holt. This expansion of sound worked and this record drew heavily on West-African Afrobeat sounds. It soon became a critical success - even if it didn't bother the upper ends of the charts here or in the USA. Melody Maker named it their album of the year and it's consistently been ranked as one of the 80s finest albums by various music journalists and publications over the years.
