Zucchero, Amy-Lou & the Secret Life of Walter Mitty

Italian singer-songwriter Zucchero on his new album D.O.C and upcoming tour.

Grant Stott talks to the legendary Italian singer-songwriter, Zucchero to discuss his new album D.O.C and his upcoming tour which will include a Glasgow date. In a remarkable career he has duetted with various international stars such as Paul Young, Sting, B.B. King, Miles Davis, Sheryl Crow, and Eric Clapton! (He also spotted Andrea Bocelli in a bar and got him to record a demo which Zucchero gave to Pavarotti!)

He will also have a special location report from Stirling where pupils from a local secondary school have set up a ‘reading friends’ group, which isn’t only providing a much valued community service, but is breaking down age barriers as well.

And live music and conversation too: with the brilliant Indie rocker Amy Lou; her latest single “Tonic Wine“ follows a slightly different path from her previous works; exploring mental health and sexuality tied to massive sing a long hooks.

All that and our regular Book Group discussion: 81 years on since it first appeared in The New Yorker in March 1939 – we are revisiting the classic and timeless short story, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty by the great James Thurber.
