The Costa Book Awards, The Korgis, Marisha Wallace, Star Trek, Glasgow Film Festival & David Greig
Including a preview of the programme for the 16th annual Glasgow Film Festival.
Grant Stott talks to the overall winner of the Book of the Year in the Costa Book Awards; the set of annual literary awards recognising English-language books by writers based in Britain and Ireland.
Not one but two, chart-topping artists will be on hand: 80’s pop star, James Warren, the front man of The Korgis, has teamed up with Noah and The Whale’s Matt Owens, and created a fresh acoustic version of the international Korgis hit, ‘Everybody’s Got To Learn Sometime’ – we’ll hear all about it…
And one of the West End and Broadway’s most instantly recognisable voices Marisha Wallace – sensational star of such smash-hit shows as Dreamgirls, Waitress, Aladdin, The Book of Mormon and very soon Hairspray – will be discussing her upcoming, debut, UK tour….
As the new Star Trek spin-off TV show Picard - starring Patrick Stewart - has just launched on Amazon UK, we’ll be talking about the enduring appeal and ‘resurgence’ of Star Trek; with various TV series - including Star Trek: Discovery season three - and a new film underway! Some are prequels, some are sequels and some are side-quels (??!!!) – we’ll hear all about it all in the company of Graeme Virtue..
Later in the show, we'll preview the Programme for the 16th annual Glasgow Film Festival - which will open and close with major features directed by women! The festival will open on the 26th of February with the UK Premiere of Alice Winocour’s Proxima starring Eva Green, and conclude with the big screen version of Caitlin Moran’s cherished, semi-autobiographical bestseller, the hilarious, inspirational coming-of-age comedy, How to Build a Girl on Sunday the 8th of March. (the UK Premiere!)
All that and, as it’s just been announced that David Greig will be staying on as Artistic Director of the Royal Lyceum Theatre in Edinburgh, he’ll join Grant to look back over his remarkable work there and discuss future plans!
