Holly Mathieson and the 成人快手 Philharmonic journey to King George's Hall in Blackburn for a concert of winter-warmers. Dvorak's life-affirming and melodious Eighth Symphony ends the concert. Remarkable violinist, Aleksey Semenenko, a recent graduate of 成人快手 Radio 3's New Generation Artist scheme joins the orchestra for Tchaikovsky's passionate and evergreen Violin Concerto. One of the most evocative tunes in the repertoire opens our concert; the Overture to Humperdinck's Hansel and Gretel which draws on the children's evening hymn from the opera's second act.
