A united Ireland ‘makes so much sense’ writes former Tory MP Matthew Parris.

"A bottomless pit beset by corruption"

That's the damning verdict on Northern Ireland by the writer and broadcaster Matthew Parris.

Writing in The Times newspaper, the former Conservative MP says the idea of a united Ireland "makes so much sense".

He says its costs taxpayers more to keep Northern Ireland in the union
than the UK will get back from leaving the EU.

But loyalist blogger Jamie Bryson claims his article is ‘offensive’.
