Nolan Exclusive - Professor Rafael Bengoa calls for performance related pay for nurses in NI.
The man who oversaw a fundamental review of the health service in Northern Ireland has told the Nolan Show performance related pay should be considered for nurses and other health workers in Northern Ireland. This is a controversial statement - and you will hear union reaction later today. Professor Rafael Bengoa is a key figure in NI because it is his report which has cross party support for radical change. So this is a big statement from a big player. Bengoa's proposal would mean nurses performances would be measured against other nurses - and financial awards handed to those delivering best patient outcomes. We also got reaction from businessman Frank Shivers, commentator Phil Kelly and Patrick Mulholland from union NIPSA.
Also on the programme, more on that exclusive story we brought you on Friday. A whistleblower who worked in the Electoral Office of Northern Ireland in the run-up to the election described to me the registration process as "chaos". He claimed on the Nolan Show that many people wrongly lost their chance to vote due to failings by the office. The Electoral Office has said the allegations "are not correct". A lot of you have been in touch with us about this. Before we came on air Stephen spoke to Bronach - she describes as a 'dog's dinner' what happened with her son's proxy vote application and some neighbours of hers.
All that and more on the biggest show in the country...
