The Bishop of Derry says that Catholic Church is "open to conversations" about its contribution to compensation payments for victims of historical, institutional abuse.
The Bishop of Derry says that Catholic Church is "open to conversations" about the contribution it should make in off-setting part of the compensation to be paid to victims of historical institutional abuse but it's up to the state to instigate the discussions with all parties involved. Last week, MPs passed a bill at Westminster to allow victims to receive redress. The Head of the Civil Service, David Sterling, says the civil service is "pursuing" state-led institutions and churches in order for them to contribute to the compensation scheme.
