Anger among public sector workers over pay squeeze.
There's anger among public sector workers here over pay this morning. On the face of it there was good news yesterday, as the dept of Finance announced it was scrapping the one per cent pay cap. That meant in theory workers could get bigger pay rises. But the department also said any of those pay rises must come from existing departmental budgets. Those are obviously under an enormous strain, think about the pressures our health service is under and schools. So it's unlikely that there will an increase of more than one percent, which due to inflation means workers could see a real terms cut in their wages. Vinny got the views of the Director of Royal College of Nursing - Pat Cullen, Anne Speed from union Unison, commentator Phil Kelly and businessman Irwin Armstrong.
Also on the programme, when it comes to supporting a rugby team, there's an unwritten rule for some - anyone but England! In just over 24 hours England and South Africa will kick-off in the final of the Rugby World Cup. Both teams, of course, are previous winners of the Webb Ellis trophy. So with Ireland knocked out of the Rugby World Cup - along with the Scots and the Welsh - who will you be cheering for tomorrow morning when England meet South Africa in the final? Vinny spoke to rugby fans Jim McDowell and Chris Suitor.
And, is Steve Aiken about to do a u-turn before he even becomes party leader? Last week he ruled out an electoral pact with the DUP and yesterday the Belfast Telegraph published a letter signed by Unionist calling for a single unionist candidate in North Belfast. On the View last night he refused to say if his party will stand in every constituency. Vinny got reaction from political commentators Chris Donnelly and Alex Kane.
All that and more on the biggest show in the country.
