Mark Kingswood performs live
Mark Kingswood performs live in the Radio 2 Piano Room and Sir Elton John, one of the world's greatest singers, songwriters and composers, chooses the Tracks of My Years.
Mark Kingswood performs live in the Radio 2 Piano Room with music from his debut album Strong. Originally from the UK, Mark has recently seen his career soar in North America with the opportunity to perform in the prestigious Place des Arts in Montreal. Following Mark鈥檚 success as a recognised songwriter and producer this debut album sees him redefine the modern-day crooner. Growing up in Kent absorbing the sounds of the household stereo, Mark gravitated to the recordings of Quincy Jones, Smokey Robinson & David Foster.
Sir Elton John, one of the world's greatest singers, songwriters and composers picks his favourite songs in Tracks of My Years with music from Little Richard and The Beatles. Elton has achieved 38 gold and 31 platinum or multi-platinum albums, has sold more than 300 million records worldwide, and holds the record for the biggest-selling single of all time, Candle in the Wind 1997. In August 2018, he was named the most successful male solo artist in the Billboard Hot 100 chart history in America, having logged 67 entries, including nine Number 1's and 27 Top 10's. He launched his first tour in 1970 and since then has performed over 4,000 times in more than 80 countries. And in November 2010, Elton donated and personally delivered one of his beloved pianos to Radio 2 to be used in live performances with both established and emerging artists. In 2019, the biographical musical film Rocketman was released, telling the story of Elton's life. The movie's soundtrack saw producer and composer Giles Martin re-interpreting and re-imagining Elton鈥檚 iconic hits. Elton is now releasing his first and only official autobiography, revealing the truth about his extraordinary life.
