Tribunal rules that people born in NI are automatically British. Emma DeSouza vows to continue Irish citizenship battle

If you're born in Northern Ireland - you are British even if you identify as Irish. That was the finding of tribunal judges yesterday. In 2017, NI woman Emma De Souza applied for a residence card for her US-born husband making the application under her Irish passport. However, the 成人快手 Office rejected the application as it deemed Mrs De Souza was British, even though she says that she never held a British passport. She went on to win a case against the 成人快手 Office. But yesterday - an immigration tribunal upheld an appeal of the case, brought by the 成人快手 Office. Emma joined Stephen this morning along with former UKIP leader in Northern Ireland - David McNarry.

Also on the programme, Translink has said it needs 拢3 billion over the next 10 years to pursue a zero emissions agenda after being underfunded for decades. Last year the company reported a 3% rise in journeys to 84.5 million across bus and rail services and in its first year, the Glider had 10 million passenger journeys. Should more public money be invested in rail and bus services? Stephen got the views of commentators Newton Emerson and Frank Shivers.

And, Scotland has become the first part of the UK to ban smacking by parents. A bill was passed in the Scottish Parliament recently making it a criminal offence for a parent or carer to use physical force to discipline children. It means Scottish kids now have the same protection from assault as adults. Wales is also close to an outright ban and Ireland banned smacking four years ago. Is it ever OK to use what current law refers to as "reasonable chastisement" to discipline a child? Stephen got the views of commentators Phil Kelly and Brendan O'Neill from Spiked Online.
