Philip Pullman joins Jo on the day that his latest novel is released, The Secret Commonwealth, Book Two of his Book Of Dust trilogy.

One of Britain's most successful and acclaimed authors, Sir Philip Pullman published his first book in 1982. His 33 books, popular with both children and adults include the Sally Lockhart books, The Good Man Jesus and the Scoundrel Christ and The New-Cut Gang books. In 1995 he published Northern Lights, the first in the His Dark Materials trilogy following the adventures of Lyra Silvertongue. The trilogy continued with The Subtle Knife and finished with The Amber Spyglass. Aimed at children but also very popular with adults, the books have been honoured with several literature prizes, including The Amber Spyglass becoming the first children's book to win the prestigious Whitbread Book of the Year Award. After over a decade Philip published La Belle Sauvage, the first of a new trilogy The Book Of Dust - set in the same world as His Dark Materials and following more adventures with Lyra. Later this year a TV adaptation of the His Dark Materials will come to 成人快手 One in November - starring James McAvoy, Ruth Wilson and Dafne Keen.

In The Secret Commonwealth, 20 years have passed since the events of La Belle Sauvage, and it's seven years since the end of The Amber Spyglass, meaning Lyra is now 20. After her and her daemon Pantalaimon unwittingly witness a murder, they set off on a dangerous journey, which takes them far beyond the edges of Oxford, across Europe and into Asia, in search of an elusive town said to be haunted by d忙mons.

And, as ever, whether you鈥檙e picking up or dropping off, Jo provides the soundtrack for the Taxi Service.
