The flagship event on the European Tour draws to a close but who will add their name to a distinguished list of previous winners?

The tournament is taking place in September for the first time this year – having previously been played in May – which has enabled an impressive global field to be assembled. The likes of Rory McIlroy, Open champion Shane Lowry, Justin Rose and Tommy Fleetwood as well as American players such as Patrick Reed, Tony Finau and Billy Horshell will all be hoping to be in contention on the final day. It was 2018 Open champion Francesco Molinari who emerged victorious 12 months ago, as he finished two shots clear of 2014 winner McIlroy.

The event has the added incentive of the being the first tournament with qualification points on offer for Padraig Harrington’s European team ahead of next year’s Ryder Cup at Whistling Straits. Eilidh Barbour presents with commentary provided by Peter Alliss, Ken Brown and Andrew Cotter.
