Mary Wilson, PopMaster and the Love Song

Mary Wilson, one of the founding members of Motown Records legendary group The Supremes, picks her Tracks of My Years. Plus Ken has another round of the PopMaster music quiz.

Mary Wilson, one of the founding members of Motown Records iconic group The Supremes picks her Tracks of My Years with songs from Etta James and Marvin Gaye. In 1959 a young African-American songwriter named Berry Gordy founded Tamla Records with a loan of eight hundred dollars from his family, marking the birth of Motown Records Corporation. It created a sound that has become one of the most significant musical success stories of the 20th century as the music continues to be embraced by every generation. In its classic era of the 1960s - Motown's artists were among the most popular. The Supremes, Smokey Robinson & The Miracles, The Four Tops, Marvin Gaye, The Marvelettes, Martha Reeves and the Vandellas, Gladys Knight and the Pips and later Stevie Wonder and Lionel Richie were all brought through Motown against the background of a growing civil rights movement.
Mary Wilson from The Supremes has recently released a book called, Supreme Glamour, which has pictures of some of the groups most iconic gowns reassembled on the stage of the Grammy Museum in Los Angeles. It's also bookended by Mary's retelling of the legendary story of the phenomenal group.

Ken's got another round of the legendary PopMaster music quiz and your dedications with today's love song. There's also the record and album of the week.
