Siobhan Fahey picks the Tracks of My Years
Siobhan Fahey of Shakespears Sister picks the Tracks of My Years with music from The Cure and Lana Del Ray. Ken also has the daily love song plus another round of PopMaster.
Siobhan Fahey, founder of the award-winning musical act Shakespears Sister, is choosing the Tracks of My Years with music from The Cure and Lana Del Ray. Originally a member of Bananarama, Siobhan began her new venture initially as a solo act, but in 1989 teamed up with American musician Marcella Detroit. By 1992 they had achieved two top 10 albums, "Sacred Heart" and "Hormonally Yours". The latter was certified double platinum in the UK and was a hit around the world. Their single "Stay" was number one in the UK for eight weeks. Their other top ten hits include "You're History" and "I Don't Care". The video for "Stay" was directed by award winning director Sophie Muller. who went on to direct videos for Coldplay, Rihanna, Beyonce, Maroon 5, No Doubt, Annie Lennox, Blur and more. The duo was nominated for Brit awards in 1990, 1991 and 1992. In 1992 they were awarded a Brit for "Stay" which won Best Video. A year later "Hormonally Yours" won the Ivor Novello Award for "Outstanding Contemporary Song Collection". This year sees the thirtieth anniversary of their first hit single "You're History". Following a famous fall out in 1993, Siobhan and Marcella were reunited in 2018 and decided to write some music together for the first time in over twenty-five years. The result is their new single "All The Queens Horses",and a forthcoming UK tour this November. The new record is produced by Nick Launay and features members of The Bad Seeds.
Ken also has the daily love song, record and album of the week plus PopMaster. If you'd like to get in touch with the show email Ken.Bruce@bbc.co.uk
