Emeli Sande performs live

Emeli Sande, the Brit and Ivor Novello Award winning artist performs live in the Radio 2 Piano Room and Lewis Capaldi picks the Tracks of My Years.

Emeli Sande, the hugely successful British singer-songwriter performs live in the Radio 2 Piano Room with music from her new album Real Life. With 19 million singles sold and over 6 million albums, Emeli has dominated the music industry. Her debut album Our Version of Events released in 2012 was the biggest selling album of that year and the second biggest of 2013. The record broke the chart record for the most consecutive weeks inside the Top 10, breaking the 50-year record previously held by The Beatles. She has won numerous accolades including 4 Brit Awards and in 2018 was awarded an MBE for services to Music. Having initially made her mark as a songwriter in the UK urban scene via acts such as Wiley, Wretch 32 and Chipmunk, the multi-instrumentalist’s solo success saw her became a highly sought-after writer for an array of international acts. Emeli wrote and co-wrote tracks for everyone from Alicia Keys, Rihanna (alongside her friend, the producer Naughty Boy) and Katy Perry. She’s also performed at both the opening and closing ceremonies of the London Olympics and at the White House for Barack Obama.

Lewis Capaldi, the UK singer-songwriter who has had the biggest selling single of the year so far with 'Someone You Loved' picks the Tracks of My Years. His song choices today are from The Beatles and Florence + The Machine. His debut album Divinely Uninspired To A Hellish Extent was recorded over 18 months in London, Los Angeles and New York. Before that Lewis had been plugging-in night-after-night into the local pub gig circuit of Glasgow. Since then he's gone on to sell over 150,000 headline show tickets and sold out five back to back tours. He's also supported Sam Smith, Rag’n’ Bone Man, Bastille & Niall Horan on their tours. Lewis will also support Ed Sheeran at some of his UK stadium tour dates this summer.

Ken's got another round of the legendary PopMaster music quiz and your dedications with today's love song. There's also the record and album of the week.
