On the eve of its 40th birthday, we celebrate Joy Division's iconic Unknown Pleasures. We play the album out in its entirety, from vinyl of course. Across the show we hear about how the record has inspired new generations of musicians including Jehnny Beth and Lonelady. Bernard Sumner, Stephen Morris and Peter Hook discuss their thoughts on the album they made as young men. We talk in depth with sleeve designer Peter Saville and music writer Jon Savage. Plus the 6 Music listeners to share their memories of Unknown Pleasures and how the record has changed their lives.

Released on the 15th of June in 1979, Unknown Pleasures - with its iconic sleeve designed by Peter Saville - changed the musical landscape. Once heard, these new sounds created by four young musicians from the North West can never quite be forgotten. We celebrate that legacy, with this special show dedicated to the work of Ian Curtis, Bernard Sumner, Peter Hook and Stephen Morris.
