Dire Straits bassist John Illsley remembers a pivotal decade in his career. Illsley formed Dire Straits in 1977 with Mark Knopfler, David Knopfler and Pick Withers. Their first single "Sultans of Swing" reached the top ten in the US chart in 1978 and became a top ten hit in the UK the following year. The band would go on to become one of the world's best-selling music artists, with album sales of over 100 million.
Also on the show, Johnnie's Jukebox welcomes a new record and we hear all the stories from This Week In Music in the 70s.
