The Vivacious Fourth

The intoxicatingly energetic Ivan Fischer and his Budapest Festival Orchestra pair Mahler鈥檚 best-loved Symphony 鈥 No 4 鈥 with music by Bartok and Enescu. From the 2018 成人快手 Proms.

The intoxicating energy of their performances makes any appearance by Iv谩n Fischer and the Budapest Festival Orchestra a highlight of the season. In this concert from the 2018 成人快手 Proms they pair Mahler鈥檚 best-loved symphony 鈥 No 4, with its jingling sleighbells and child鈥檚-eye vision of heaven 鈥 with two works exploring the unusual relationship between strings and percussion: Bart贸k鈥檚 dynamic Music for Strings, Percussion and Celesta and Enescu鈥檚 Pr茅lude 脿 l鈥檜nisson, with its slow-build tension. John Shea presents.
