Stephen Tompkinson, the actor who has starred in ITV鈥檚 Torvill & Dean, 成人快手鈥檚 The Split, and seven series of Wild at Heart picks the Tracks of My Years with music from The Cure and John Barry. Stephen is now playing the role of Frank in the UK tour of Willy Russell's Educating Rita. The hugely successful play tells the story of married hairdresser Rita, who enrols on an Open University course to expand her horizons, and her meetings with university tutor Frank. Frank is a frustrated poet, brilliant academic and dedicated drinker, who is less than enthusiastic about teaching Rita. However, he soon finds that his passion for literature is reignited by Rita, whose technical ability for the subject is limited by her lack of education, but whose enthusiasm Frank finds refreshing. The two soon realise how much they have to learn from each other. Stephen has previously starred in hit TV comedy Drop The Dead Donkey, for which he won a British Comedy Award for Best TV Comedy Actor. He's also well known for playing the role of Father Peter Clifford in three series of the hit 成人快手 One series Ballykissangel in the 1990s and for starring in the hit British film Brassed Off. His theatre work includes roles in Spamalot, A Christmas Carol and Art.
