Alarming increase in diabetes rates in Northern Ireland as they spike by 70 per cent.

Diabetes is the UK's fastest growing health crisis and new figures out today show an alarming rise in the past decade. In just over a decade, the total number of cases has risen by over 70 per cent. Stephen spoke to the GP Dr George O'Neill and asked if he was surprised by the figures.

Also on the programme, the DUP's Sammy Wilson has hit out in parliament at new sex education rules in place in England which he says will inevitably come here to NI. Mr Wilson says the current rules give far too many rights to headteachers, particularly those who want to "push certain lifestyles in relationship education." Sex and relationship education that includes discussion of same sex relationships will be delivered to children as young as five in English schools. Updated regulations are to be introduced in 2020 following an overwhelming vote by MPs in parliament last week. Stephen got the views of commentators Angela Epstein and Amanda Ferguson.

And, we are only on the second day of April and it would seem that some are already planning for bonfire season. The Irish News are reporting that stacks of wooden pallets have been gathered on the Bloomfield Walkway site in East Belfast, the same site where last year masked contractors removed materials under armed guard of the PSNI at a cost of over 拢120,000 to the tax payer. Stephen got the views of loyalist blogger Jamie Bryson.

All that and more on the biggest show in the country.
