Good morning, I recall as a child how excited I used to be as we approached Christmas. And no, it was not about the gifts as I cannot recall any one gift I may have received. Instead I can still feel it in the air, there was an expectancy, there was hope and there was an abundance of faith expressed, especially in the constant round of performances of听 Nativity plays in our churches and sometimes in the lounges of the local hotels of Montego Bay.

Each year of doing the Nativity gave me a sense of all those characters in the story of the birth of Jesus. Like the shepherds, hardened men on a hillside, not only being brave enough to talk about being visited by singing angels, but having the courage to go and check it out for themselves.

This time of the year presents us with the opportunity to be a people of hope, a people of faith, a people longing for light in the darkness . We can sit back and say, 鈥渨e do not believe in singing angels.鈥� Or we can dig deep and find the faith and the courage, like the Shepherds to say, 鈥楲et鈥檚 go to Bethlehem and check this out for ourselves.鈥櫶�

The Shepherds moved from being bystanders to becoming witnesses. In life鈥檚 journey, we too must never be content to simply be bystanders making use of our phones and selfie sticks. As witnesses our lives are changed and we are compelled to go out and tell others

Lord fill me with faith that I may move from being a bystander. Give your followers the courage to share what they鈥檝e witnessed. Amen
