Gubaidulina and Beethoven
Nicola Heywood Thomas presents music from the Dartington Festival including a chaconne by Gubaidulina, and the Heath Quartet performing Beethoven.
Nicola Heywood Thomas presents music from the Dartington Summer School and Festival, which in the summer months of 2018 marked its seventieth anniversary. To begin, the festival artistic director and pianist Joanna MacGregor performs Gubaidulina鈥檚 Chaconne. Penned whilst still a student, this work established the composer's reputation on an international platform. This is followed by a performance of Beethoven鈥檚 String Quartet No 15 in A minor, written at a time when the composer was recovering from illness.
