6 Music's Arts School Tour: The Road to ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Music Day
Shaun is in Glasgow ahead of this Friday's #³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖMusicDay and chats with the team at City Radio, hip hop artist Kobi Onyame and Prof Ross Sinclair from the Glasgow School of Art
Shaun is live from Glasgow ahead of this Friday's ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Music Day & chats with the team at City Radio at the City of Glasgow College who will give us the lowdown on some of the city's emerging artists. Plus, Shaun will be looking into the importance the local Glasgow School of Art plays within the local music and cultural scene and chats with former Soup Dragons drummer and now reader in Contemporary Art Practice in the School of Fine Art at The Glasgow School of Art - Professor Ross Sinclair. He is best known for his ‘Real Life’ project initiated when he had the words REAL LIFE tattooed in black ink across his back, at Terry’s Tattoo parlour in Glasgow, 1994. The ‘Real Life Project’ has been disseminated across a range of exhibition and publication contexts, positioned against a critical framework of contested models of audience participation, ‘Everyday Life’ and ‘The Real’ acknowledging the influence of key critical thinkers around the realm of participatory and socially engaged practice.
Shaun will also look back on 6 Music's last visit to Glasgow for the 6 Music Festival in 2017 and revisits sets from Honeyblood and Edywn Collins. Plus, Shaun chats with Glasgow based hip hop artist Kobi Onyame about his recent album Gold which was nominated this year for the Scottish SAY Award and Alex Kapranos from Franz Ferdinand chats to Matt Everitt about the role the Glasgow School of Art played in the forming of Franz Ferdinand.
³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Music Day 2018 is this Friday 28th September with events starting w/c Mon 24th September. Now in its fourth year, ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Music Day is an annual celebration of the power of music to change lives. To find out more about the events and broadcasts happening in 2018 visit bbc.co.uk/musicday
