The Irish women's hockey team will have a civic reception in Dublin after taking silver in the World Cup.
So, Ireland left the Women's Hockey World Cup yesterday as silver medallists. The Dutch team proved just too powerful, winning 6-0 at the Olympic Park in London in yesterdays’ final. However, reaching the decider was an amazing achievement in itself for the Irish who'd entered the tournament as the second lowest ranked team of all the competing nations. There was also recognition for Ireland's Ayeisha McFerran, who's from Larne. Her heroics throughout the course of the competition rewarded as she was named the goalkeeper of the tournament.
