So, last night was a big one for Northern Ireland's gay community. At an event hosted at Stormont Arlene Foster became the first DUP leader to attend an LGBT event. This morning we're going to talk about gay people and their future in Northern Ireland. Arlene Foster's attendance at the Pink News event last night has been hailed as a positive one. It's a big step for a party which not so long ago ran a campaign to "save Ulster from sodomy". But what's actually changed? Well the DUP have been at pains to point out that none of their policies around gay issues have been altered. And what about Sinn Fein? Well they have been shouting their rights based agenda from the roof tops. Stephen spokes to Newsletter political editor Sam McBride, SDLP leader Colum Eastwood, Professor Jon Tonge Professor of Politics at Liverpool University, commentator Chris Donnelly, UUP MLA Doug Beattie and John O'Doherty from the Rainbow Project.
Also on the programme, a much-loved family pet has been mauled to death in a public park in Portadown. It happened on Saturday morning as Jim Judge was taking his partner's chihuahua for a walk. It was attacked and killed by a Lurcher that Jim says was off its lead. The family says it has been left devastated by the attack and has criticised Armagh, Banbridge and Craigavon Council for not giving them any information about what they are doing about the other dog and its owner. Our reporter, Nicola Weir, went to visit the family and began by asking Jim what happened. A warning, some people may find some of the details contained in this report distressing.
All that and more on the biggest show in the country.
