Isle of Skye
Matt heads to the Isle of Skye for the most remote and extreme of our rambles.
He's trying to fulfil 12-year-old Josh’s dream of climbing a mountain whilst he’s still able to.Â
Josh has Niemann-Pick Disease Type C, a rare degenerative genetic condition, whose young sufferers rarely reach adulthood.Â
For Josh and his family, making the most out of every day is essential and in the Cuillin mountain range that’s exactly what Matt’s hoping to help them do.
Ely
Ellie Harrison heads to the cathedral city of Ely to lead off our biggest ever ramble.Â
More than 1,100 viewers join the Countryfile convoy and even Pudsey Bear joins the party!Â
And joining the ramble is a special moment for fourteen-year-old Amy, now in remission from bone cancer and who was supported through her treatment by the charity Spread a Smile, which receives vital ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Children in Need funding.Â
Padarn Country Park
Steve Brown and John Craven team up to take on this year’s Welsh ramble, in the Padarn Country Park.Â
One hundred and fifty ramblers are alongside them, including members of the charity Contact.
It runs forest schools where families of children facing a range of challenging circumstances can meet to gain support and swap experiences.Â
Steve and John's ramble cuts through the slate quarries which made this area famous and Steve discovers how vital this natural resource has been in shaping the buildings of Britain.
Corfe Castle
Tom takes on the role of the ramble's roving reporter. Â
Heading to Dorset, he drops in on walks organised by local Guides and a residential care home. Â
And Tom takes a look at a handful of the many thousands of public rambles which you took on, up and down the country – all taking part in the event with us and raising vital cash for the cause.Â
Mourne Mountains
Anita leads a bunch of fifty hardy viewers across one of Northern Ireland’s most dramatic landscapes to the mountain pass of Hare’s Gap. Â
At the top, she discovers the incredible 22-mile long dry stone wall nicknamed ‘the handrail’. Â
Officially named the Mourne Wall, this dramatic structure was built in the early 1900s by a band of men who would spend weeks on end living under the stars. Â
Also accompanying Anita on her ramble is 13-year-old Mark, who was diagnosed with ME two years ago and has been supported in his recovery by the ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Children in Need-funded Koram Centre.
Galloway Forest Park
Adam is in the picturesque Galloway Forest Park for his three-and-a-half mile circular ramble taking in the best of this lowland landscape. Â
One hundred and fifty Countryfile viewers are walking alongside him - as well as Karis, Logan, Lewis and their mum Lynne who were helped by a ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Children in Need-funded bereavement counsellor, after their dad passed away in 2016. Â
The park itself was designated Europe’s first Dark Sky Park in 2008 and Adam meets local photographer Kurt Norbury who specialises in spectacular starscape photos. Â
