Guitarist and session musician Elliott Randall joins Johnnie to share his memories of the 1970's plus another listener nominates a track for Johnnie's Jukebox.
Elliott is best known for his work with Steely Dan in the 1970's. He played the famous solo on their track, 'Reelin' In The Years'. Led Zeppelin's Jimmy Page has cited this as one of his favourite ever guitar solos.
As a child, Elliott began to learn piano but switched to guitar aged nine. He attended New York City's High School of Music & Art. Aged sixteen, Randall met folk guitarist and musician Richie Havens inNew York's Greenwich Village and began gigging.
Elliott has worked with a whole list of artists during his career as well as Steely Dan, including the Doobie Brothers, Elkie Brooks and Carly Simon just to name a few. Plus he鈥檚 worked in the commercial world and in television and movies too. He also played on the Irene Cara track, 'Fame' which was the theme to the hit movie and TV show.
