Graham Nash
Legendary British singer songwriter Graham Nash joins Johnnie on the show this week to share his 70's memories.
Graham Nash is a British singer songwriter, best known for his work with The Hollies and Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young.
He was born in Blackpool in 1942 and formed The Hollies with his friend Allan Clark.
When The Hollies toured America in 1968, Graham became reacquainted with David Crosby from The Byrds, who he first met on a UK tour in the mid 60's. Graham left the Hollies and formed the supergroup Crosby, Stills and Nash with David Crosby and Stephen Stills.
The group released 'Crosby, Stills and Nash' in 1969. Neil Young joined when the band took the record on the road and they released 'D茅j脿 Vu' as a four-piece in March 1970.
Unfortunately, the group imploded after their tour in the summer of 1970 but recordings they made produced the 1971 double live album 'Four Way Street'. The four members did not come back together until 1974.
In 1971 Nash bought out an album 'Songs for Beginners' and another, 'Wild Tales' in 1973. In 1977, returning to the original Crosby, Stills and Nash line-up, the group released the album "CSN".
Since the 1970's Crosby, Stills, Nash (and sometimes Young) have regrouped for further recordings and live dates.
He has been inducted into the US Rock Roll Hall of Fame twice, first in 1997 with Crosby, Stills and Nash and again in 2010 with The Hollies.
In 2010 he was in the Christmas honors list, receiving an OBE.
Graham also released a memoir, 'Wild Tales', in 2013.
As a solo artist, Graham is currently on tour, promoting his 30-song collection of hits from the last 50 years. The double CD is called 'Over the Years' and includes songs from a number of past releases such as the iconic CSN debut album, as well as unreleased demos and mixes.
