A - Z of Psychedelia is launched today and The Pretty Things are in session

Tonight we have so much fun - you may need to take a nap before the show. We've the final radio session from iconic band The Pretty Things and we launch A-Z of Psychedelia podcast.

Tonight is the final radio session from iconic band The Pretty Things, plus Marc also launches the A-Z of Psychedelia as a podcast series.

The Pretty Things formed in 1963 in London town. Their first radio session was performed for Parade of the Pops, a 成人快手 light programme in July of 1964, and now - a remarkable 54 years later - they are playing their final radio session for Marc Riley on 成人快手 Radio 6 Music.

In his show across the last few months through The A-Z of Psychedelia Marc and music journalist Rob Hughes have taken listeners on a meandering journey through the golden age of psychedelia from the mid 60's. There was simply too much information to pack into 26 letters of the alphabet so the series ran to 36 episodes! With kaftans, joss sticks and floppy flowers at the ready the psychedelic journey ranges from A for Amboy Juke and Ambrose Slade through to Z for Zombies and Zappa, and everything in between.

Now, 50 years to the day that the ultimate psychedelic film, Yellow Submarine, was released all 36 instalments are now packaged together as a complete podcast series which launches today and is available to download to enjoy at leisure from bbc.co.uk/6music and all the usual podcast places.

The A-Z of Psychedelia follows on from the A-Z of Punk podcast series, which - since its launch in October 2017 up to May 2018 - has been 6 Music's most downloaded podcast (compared to all others from the station during that time period).
