Farming Today This Week - Spring

Sybil Ruscoe heads to Powys to find out whether spring has sprung, or if the 'Beast from the East' has held it back a few more weeks - with a trip to a sheep and daffodil farm.

Whether spring really sprung, or the recent snowy weather forced it back by a few week, work on farms across the country is picking up pace - but has the unexpected weather forced farmers to rethink their seasonal plans?

Sybil Ruscoe visits a sheep and daffodil farm in central Powys, at the foot of the Black Mountains, to talk to Kevin Stephens about lambing and growing flowers for the pharmaceutical industry, for drugs used to treat Alzheimer's. She also catches up with Dafydd Jarrett, Policy Advisor for NFU Cymru, to find out how other farmers are getting on this season.

Meanwhile Lucy Taylor visits dairy farmer Rob Harrison in Gloucestershire, in the middle of spring calving; Beatrice Fenton finds out how the weather has affected spring grass with Nick Green from Lye Cross Farm cheese producers in Somerset; and Anna Hill takes a look at the spring 'to do' list for arable farmers.

Presented by Sybil Ruscoe; produced by Lucy Taylor.
