Two men are charged with the murder of Karol Kelly in Derry at the weekend. A former soldier broke down at an inquest yesterday, saying he had to face the possibility his bullet killed a Derry woman in 1971. Kathleen Thompson, who was 47 and a mother of six, was shot dead in the garden of her home in Creggan during an Army raid on the estate.
