Today's afternoon concert was recorded in Glasgow last month, and featured works by two titans of Hungarian music: Zolt谩n Kod谩ly and B茅la Bart贸k. The Hungarian violinist Barnab谩s Kelemen brings a countryman's understanding to Bart贸k's First Violin Concerto, with its powerful and plaintive melodies. There's also a chance to hear the orchestral arrangement of Bart贸k's Second Rhapsody (originally for violin and piano), and music from the score to his controversial ballet The Miraculous Mandarin.
