Pip tells her about the appointment at the abortion clinic, and the moment when she knew she wanted the baby. Ruth wishes Pip had told her - how awful to go through that alone. Pip's worried Jill will never speak to her again once she hears that Toby is the father. Ruth reminds Pip how much Jill loves her, but offers to be the one to break the news. Pip declines. This is something she has to do herself.
