Art Is Everywhere: The Launch

Mary Anne launches Art Is Everywhere with 2006 Turner Prize nominee Mark Titchner, and New York sign-painter Steve Powers.

Mary Anne Hobbs launches Art Is Everywhere with two very special guests.

Ahead of our annual art weekender in December, we welcome 2006 Turner Prize nominee Mark Titchner, and New York sign-painter Steve Powers onto the show, to talk about the power of words in art.

Mark Titchner's work utilises song lyrics, and words from creeds, treatises and political manifestos to explore different belief systems, and the way in which we 'receive thought and ideas'.

Steve Powers, a former graffiti artist, paints messages of love and hope on walls and roofs across the world, as a way of permanently depicting our life and times. "If the power goes out and the books are gone, the walls will be there, testifying", he says.

³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Radio 6 Music's annual art weekender, Art is Everywhere, takes place on the 2nd and 3rd of December, tying in directly with the 2017 Turner Prize.
