Erling Kagge

Mark Radcliffe and Stuart Maconie hear from Norwegian explorer Erling Kagge about his book examining the power of silence.

Mark Radcliffe and Stuart Maconie hear from Norwegian explorer Erling Kagge about his international best-selling book 'Silence In The Age Of Noise'. Erling was the first explorer in history to reach the 'three poles' - North, South and the summit of Everest - often experiencing extreme periods of silence. He spent fifty days walking solo across Antarctica with his radio broken. His book examining the power of silence has been translated into thirty-three languages.

Also on today's show... The Chain - YOU get to suggest the next track, connected any way you like to the one before it - and Tea Time Theme Time, the end-of-show tracks linked to one another BUT HOW? It's up to you to get in touch and guess the connection. There's also a daily gathering of Music News to pop into your audio vases, and a smattering of all the latest records gathered by Mark and Stuart too.
