Rebellion with Annie Nightingale
From grime boycotting the music industry, to raving before the millennium, to the birth of punk or the events that shocked the world, this episode touches on them all.
Celebrating Radio 1's 50th anniversary, the station's longest serving presenter, Annie Nightingale, has created and collated a special 4 part series.
Covering four different themes, Annie Nightingale cherry-picks from 5 decades of music. Taking us from genre to genre and year to year, all the while touching on some of the key moments that have defined the last half century.
Radio 1 launched in 1967 with a gang of rebel presenters from pirate radio. With that in mind, Annie's first theme is Rebellion.
Touching on the rebellious and the revolutionary, this soundscape may remind you of the rebel you were or perhaps inspire you to be one. From grime boycotting the music industry, to raving before the millennium, to the birth of punk or the events that shocked the world, this episode touches on them all and brings you a rebellious listen.
