Sarah Winman's Tin Man, Baby Drivers, Voice in the Handbag
Simon's back on Drive and welcomes the author of 'When God Was A Rabbit', Sarah Winman, to the Radio 2 Book Club to discuss her latest novel, 'Tin Man'.
The Radio 2 Book Club plays host to bestselling author Sarah Winman, who joins Simon and Matt to discuss her latest novel, Tin Man.
Sarah Winman was an actress, working in theatre in her twenties and early thirties but by 1992 she "started having my own words" and turned away from other people's scripts and realised she wanted to write a novel. It would be another 20 years until that novel was written and published.
Her new book Tin Man starts with a painting won in a raffle: fifteen sunflowers, hung on the wall by a woman who believes that men and boys are capable of beautiful things. And then there are two boys, Ellis and Michael, who couldn't be closer. And the boys become men, and then they meet Annie. And it changes nothing and everything.
We'll be discussing the novel in detail as well as hearing from our listener reviewers.
