Election tour - rural business, tourism, broadband
Charlotte Smith visits the village of Rothbury in Northumberland, where she asks rural business owners what they would like the next government concentrate on.
Farming Today concludes its week-long pre-election tour of the British countryside, with a visit to the village of Rothbury in Northumberland. Charlotte Smith is at a caf茅 and bunkhouse, which has also just taken on the role of local tourist information office. She finds out what rural businesses owners would want to see from whoever is elected to form the next government, and hears about the problems caused by the lack of reliable broadband in many rural areas. How do rural tourism businesses cope with being remote from 21st century connections, when their remoteness is also the very reason for their appeal to visiting tourists?
Presented by Charlotte Smith and produced by Emma Campbell.
