It's the season of peace and goodwill so is it the ideal time to forgive? Gillian Russell hears from motivational speaker Richard McCann about his experiences of forgiving and finds out whether it can be good for our health. Chris O'Sullivan from the Mental Health Foundation offers advice on practising the art of forgiveness and how to manage tricky family situations over the festive period.
What do you do when your kids say they're bored? Feel guilty? Immediately rush out and do an activity with them? Suggest a quick-fix like ipad/dvd/phone? Teresa Belton, Visiting Fellow at the University Of East Anglia, says it's good for children to be bored and rather than view it as a bad thing, we should see it as an opportunity. She says being bored and letting your mind wander is good for imagination, creativity and mental health ... and that we, as adults, should probably factor in some daydreaming too.
As the period of festive overindulgence gets underway, is there anything we can do to change or speed up our metabolic rate? Nutritionist Scott Baptie explains what metabolism means and dispels some of the myths surrounding our metabolic rates.
