Euan investigates whether it is time for greater control over the growing population of Roe Deer. As their numbers rise they are increasingly encroaching into urban areas and causing problems on the roads. Dougie visits the Isle of Eigg which is owned by the community. It also has a world-leading renewable energy system producing a stable electricity supply for the whole of the island’s population.

Euan looks at the social and economic impact of Forestry on local communities. He visits Glen Tanar estate on Deeside where the woodland provides habitat for wildlife and leisure activities as well as supporting fifty jobs. Just along the road is a Sawmill that takes the timber from the estate and processes it for use in housebuilding. The Sawmill employs fifty people.

Dougie visits Caithness where a project is underway to preserve and restore the county’s collection of Iron age Brochs.
