The revolution raises many questions about how society cares for increasing numbers of very elderly people - and in particular about quality of life, and human dignity.聽 With increasing power to prolong lives, when should support be withdrawn?聽 And can it ever be right to help someone take their own life?

On the eve of his 85th birthday recently, Archbishop Desmond Tutu reiterated his support for assisted dying and revealed that he would like this as an option for himself, believing now that dying people should have the right to choose how their lives end.

With death still treated as a taboo subject among many, a major conference in Cardiff next month will be exploring a range of issues around death and dying, from a specifically Christian perspective.聽聽聽
