Caroline is feeling guilty, and Pip takes a call.

Caroline is stressed about turning the Grundys out of Grange Farm, plus the buyer they had has pulled out. Shula persuades her to go for a ride and while they're out Shula confesses she and Alistair don't have much to say to each other these days. Caroline says they need to take up a hobby together. Shula says she will ask Alistair to come to the opera at Lower Loxley.

The Grundys all feel out of sorts knowing they'll soon have to move. Emma tells Eddie about Caroline's requests to smarten up Grange Farm. She wishes the children had a place they can call home. Along with George and Keira, she joins Eddie while he cuts up a fallen tree. Emma wells up at the thought of everything going wrong. Eddie encourages her to look for the silver linings.

After a weekend alone with the geese and hens, Toby comes looking for Pip. He finds her at Brookfield and relays that Rex has reported that their dad is on the mend. Pip makes lunch for the two of them, but it isn't the sort of arrangement Toby was expecting. Pip gets a call from her ex-boyfriend Matthew and she steps outside to answer it. When she returns Toby can't hide his jealousy. They fight, Pip shouts at Toby to leave and he storms out.
