Jetsunma Tenzin Palmo decided to go to India at the age of 20聽to pursue her spiritual path. Later she became one of the first Westerners to be ordained as a Tibetan Buddhist nun, and spent 12 years in retreat in a cave, 3 of which were completely alone.聽In 2000 she founded a nunnery, and continues to promote female practitioners of Tibetan Buddhism worldwide.
