Episode 1
Singer/songwriter and DJ Duke Special tells the stories of the pioneers of recorded sound. His father's record collection provides the starting point for his musical journey.
As well as being an acclaimed singer/songwriter, Duke Special is the first DJ in Ireland to use only 78rpm records. In this series, he'll tell the stories of the pioneers of recorded sound, meet avid collectors of 78s and, via the enduring magic of shellac, offer listeners a contemporary take on the music of the past.
His father's record collection is the starting point for Duke Special's musical journey, which takes him to the National Folklore Collection in Dublin and the earliest known recording of Irish music.
