Crimea – 2 years since Russia took control
In March 2014 Crimea voted to be part of Russia. The territory has been a de facto part of Russia since then. Russia sees it as democracy in action, giving the Crimean people the right to determine who their master should be. However, Ukraine sees what happened as illegal, as do many other countries. At the time, a new government had swept to power in Kiev, one leaning to the West rather than to Moscow. It was then that Russia sent in troops to Crimea before holding the vote. Today, two years on, how has Crimea changed? Who is happy and who is not? Darren Laing has travelled to Crimea via Ukraine with permission from both parties who claim sovereignty – ·¡Ã²°ù±è²¹ are the first international crew to do this since Russia took control of Crimea.
