More about this programme

Female genital mutilation has been illegal in the UK since 1985.

In 2003 it became a crime to take a girl abroad to have FGM performed on her.听

Yet new figures from maternity services across Wales show that last year听midwives saw around 100 women who had undergone FGM.听

Eye on Wales explores what those figures say about the extent of the practice with health care professionals and FGM campaigners.

And it asks how they can be reconciled with the assertion of one community that it has turned its back on the practice.

Presented by Nelli Bird.
